They wanted the regime to last forever, and their children and grandchildren to last forever. A chancellor should think about the impact after 50 years and 100 years.

What is the reason for this? The fault of not reading sage books. Sage books help us to grow in wisdom. We do not read history books, especially Chinese history. What do the history books of China record? It is the record of good and evil retribution. The twenty-five histories are about karma and retribution. It increases our insight and knowledge. It gives us the ability to distinguish right from wrong, good from evil. That's why the ancient people focused on the teaching of reading. The study of scripture and history. One is wisdom and learning. The other is insight. History is a mirror. To people, to things, to things. If you read the scriptures, you can avoid many faults.
